this & that.

what a whirlwind of a week/weekend. i find it extremely hard to balance blogging/internet time with appointments, kids, free-time, and everything else in between.

this past week was a doctors appointment for myself which resulted in having to have another colonoscopy, nothing like having someone stick a video cam in your rear and getting to watch it while they oo and ah over the different "findings" they happen to fall upon. really, i'd rather tooth pain. but, it is what it is. i have to take care of myself.

then kman had an appointment, well i had an appointment for him while he was at school. behavioral specialist ..which is where we are heading in the morning. school is slowly forcing him to come unglued. although he is an angel at school, the moment i pick him up he loses it & the flood gates open as all of his emotions come flowing out. hopefully we can find a better balance. otherwise i may be forced to perform an exorcism on my mini linda blair whom has adapted to the satin voice very well i must say.

other than that, i finally bought myself a new outfit & felt fabulous in it. got myself a new book the hunger games & the kids spent the weekend at their dads. so what did i do? acted like it was 2004. let me tell you - i am no longer 20; i felt it. i have officially experienced my first hangover at 25years old. no bueno.

i will be back tomorrow with a more in depth story about my weekend & the scary fun adventures!

did lmm's hair tute: great hair day!

sensory fun

thanks jenn, i owe this one all to you.

today was technically 'd-day' although i am aware that kohen has sensory processing disorder, nothing says 'official' like receiving a 121 page assessment. so now it's in black & white. copy for me, copy for dad, copy for teacher, copy for the doc, i have copies coming out of places the sun doesn't shine.. srsly. aren't we of the new generation? e-mail people. we would have saved many trees with this process.

anyways. miss amomynous has an in-home daycare and told me today that she fills up a bucket with dish soap and water, making soapy water for the kids to explore. part of his sensory disorder is that he's always seeking for sensory input. what better way than water, bubbles, and accessories!?

so i copied you, yes jenn, call the copy police! alert the officials! hear it now!
i.copied.you.

okay now that we have dealt with that, want pictures?

the screeches and giggles tell me that this was fun. even if it only lasted 10 minutes before they just dumped the buckets. next on the list: teach nuggets not to dump buckets. 'nuff said.

SPD

just another one of those days.
the days where my "spirited child" is having a less than stellar time taking in everything around him.
one of those days when the walls are his personal trampolines and his hyper gauge is in the extreme category.
one of those days when everything around him feels as though it's crumbling.
one of those days he feels as though im not proud of him.
internalizing every piece of information differently than you or i.

is he bipolar?
no.

adhd?
no.

well, what is it?

why is my child ranging from raging lunatic to the energizer bunny in 0 to 30.
every situation ending in turmoil.
making impulsive decisions.
hurting him or himself.

sensory processing disorder.

my fear since becoming a mother has been this.
a stigma.
a label.

i am not a failure, nor did i cause this.
this is my child.
this is kohen.

spirited.
loving.
genius.
unique.
different.

every bit of the word, amazing.

i do not have all of my facts, nor do i know where to go from here.
only up.
i do know that from now on, he has the best possible chance at life.
to strive,
to thrive,
and excel in everything he'll do,
only differently.

because he's kohen, unique.
